Question Biggest 15" tire for '69 RR w/stock ride height and uncut wheel housings?

I'm currently running a pair of 29x12.5x15 MT Sportsman Pros on 15x8 wheels

They look and hook great, but man they wear quick on the street and take a lot of weight to balance with tubes

My original plan was to get 15x6 steelies with redlines all around (actually, that's still the plan), but funds are low and so is the tread on the Sportsmans, so I'm looking into DR's

In the past, I've had BFG, Nitto and MT DR's on other cars and found BFG to be garbage, Nittos last the longest and MT hooked the best.

Since Nitto doesn't have a comparable size, I guess I'll be going with MT's

As of now, the 29x12.5x15 Sportsmans fill the wheel wells nicely and don't rub, but come extremely close to it.

MT makes two comparable sizes

295/55/15 (28x12.5x15) and 295/65/15 (30x12.5x15)

Both have smaller section widths than my current tires, so I know I'm safe there and I'd want to go with the taller 30" tire as she's geared pretty low, but here's the issue....

I recently replaced the Super Stock leafs with stock height replacements, so I'm not sure if my current 29" Sportsmans would've rubbed with full tread.

Is anyone here running 30x12.5x15 stock height and uncut?

Snake,

I have 205/75/15 skinnies on the front and 295/55/15 MT ET Street on the rear of my '69 RR. There's about an inch or so gap between the tire and the side of the wheel well. The rear of the car is stock (uncut).

I ran a 295/50/15 on a 10 inch rim with 4.5 back space with low rear suspension, the tire tucked under nice.

My first 69 RR ended my ownership with 15X10 stock rear offset magnum wheels and these monsters. Used a shock extension with a coil over shock. Close to stock ride height and really stiff but the tire tucked in and traction problems went away. Yes they are bias ply but if your not driving on the highway much these things hook nicely.
