Hello,What is the widest tire I can fit on my 1968 Newport? Without modification please.

I run regular 235 75 15s they are 29"s tall and 9''s wide. There is room for more width but not a lot.

 

I measured my 68 c body and there looks to be about 11 inches in the rear!
Unfortunately there is more room rear of the drum than forward so you would need a wheel with a positive offset (maybe +10mm) to use it all.
I too run 235/70R15 all around and it looks good.

 

There is more room back of the drum than advance so you might require a wheel with a positive balance.
