Question 1959 Dodge Coronet

1. Today I backed my '59 Dodge out of the garage. Of course it has the push button gearbox. When I tried to push D for Drive, the R button seemed to be stuck. I then put it in Neutral and then Drive. When I ttried it again Reverse again seem to stick, but if I giggle it it comes out and I can put it in Drive. Also Drive gets stuck when trying to reverse gears. But this doesn't sound like something I want to continue doing. Any ideas on what could be wrong and can I live with this or need to get it fixed?

2. The lock on the trunk broke. Either I or the guy working on my car ( who has disappeared) threw away the old lock. I ordered a lock kit on EBay, but the garage says I'm missing a part...a circular part in which the lock mechanism fits (is it called a cylinder?) Anyone know how I can find this mysterious part that did not come with the lock kit? Thank you.

Try dry grafite on the sifter buttons that might help free things up. Got nothing on the trunk lock.
