318,340,360

i'm looking to possibly replace my 318, and i'm looking at either a 340 or 360.

wondering if there are any changes i'll need to make or will they both slide right in and bolt up to my trans ?

also does the year of it matter too ?

the place i'm looking into getting th engine from is through my moms work and for some odd reason idk if its just cause she hates my car with a passion or what but, she said they wont go by my car ( no idea why they wouldnt ) so would i jsut say any c body around the same year as my Polara or somthing else ?

The 360's use a different pan--the rear "half moon" area is bigger. 360's are externally balanced, so you'd need to run the right balancer on the 360, as well as have the correct "weighted" (matching) converter. Nowadays, some aftermarket folks I guess sell weighted flex plates, so you can use a standard 318/ 340 converter.

Motor mounts can be different on 340's. It's been awhile, but I believe I remember swapping the 318 brackets side for side, and making up some washer spacers under one of the bolts.

Not sure, you might want to speak to some of the aftermarket folks about engine brackets.

Other than than, everything else should pretty much interchange.
