360 oil blow by??

360 oil blow by??

i could really use your help...i have a 360 that i slipped an rv cam into ...changed valve seals...installed offenhauser 4 bbl intake..holley 4bbl...re- assembled the motor with edelbrock valve covers...took it for a longer cruise...about 200 miles...oil was spewing..i think from the dipstick tube all over the front of my engine...am i not getting enough breathing???...is the intake an issue?? any suggestions..

sounds like u got excessive crank case pressure you can try larger breathers my engine pops the dipstick at high rpms im going to install larger breathers

Before you do anything check the seal between the intake manifold and the engine block. the seal may have slipped. Would cause major leak
Could also just be a valve cover gasket

thanks for the info....i thought it might be the dipstick, but never thought that the intake would be leaking like that....i am contemplating putting the stock 4bbl intake back on...someone suggested that this is a problem with aftermarket intakes!!??...my concern is that the edelbrock valve covers don't have enough breathing holes...stock covers have more..

You need a PCV valve on one side and a breather on the other.

Like bremereric said you need a pvc vale and a breather usually mounted on opposite sides. with aftermarket valve covers you need to make sure there is a baffle/plate under the PVC valve or it could suck oil into the motor. There is usually a large 1" rubber grommet for the breather. Check and repair the valve covers then wash the motor off and recheck for leaks.

Its a crankcase breathing problem for sure, but WHERE was the oil spewing FROM?
