383 skip in motor when not under load

When I have just a little load on the engine it goes away. Just had motor rebuild,less then 500 miles on it. new lifters,cam,valve springs. I have a 750cfm edlebrock specs are above. I was told it could be the metering rods. Might need changing. Runs ok when wide open...... |
I'm going through the same thing with my 360. Runs great at wot, but misses when at low rpm. I've messed with the timing quite a bit and I seem to get rid of it when I advance it, but it doesn't run as strong. I've done a ton of research on this and it seems to have something to do with the vacuum advance coming in too early. I've tried manifold and port vacuum with mixed results. Not sure if you have and adjustable vac advance on your distributor, or springs that can be changed in and out to try different curves, but this may be helpful. I'm still in the learning stages here, so maybe someone else can elaborate further on this.

Forgot......from what I've read, try plugging the vac advance and taking it for a drive. If this cures the problem, it's probably something to do with the advance coming in too soon. I'm going to try this in the next day or so.
