440 Cam Q?

Hello, i have another queation for you 440 guys, the cam i purchased for my 440 is a Mopar purple (DCC-4120237) .509/.509, 248in. 248ex., 108*LSA. I pulled the old cam out of the block and installed the new one earlier today. When it got almost all of the way in it felt like it kind of got hung up. Is this normal? I tapped it in lightly with a plastic hammer and it wnt the rest of the way in and spins freely, i was just wondering if i messed something up and have to replace the cam bearings now. I am sure you guys have experience in this and i have none, so your help is really appreciated.

I got hung up right around the last round part before the end right? You have to rotate it around a few times to get it to go in, the cam bearing should not have moved as I believe they are tapered so the cam cannot go in backwards, but I would check, as that would mess the cam up real good.

Yes i got hung up at the same point. Do you suggest pulling the cam to see if i damaged the bearings?

If it was light taps with a dead blow hammer you should be fine, they all sort of POP into place if ya know what I mean.

lol I see im not the only 1 with this prob. ive had 2 blocks do this too me. what happens is the number 3 cam journal is under size from the factory, yours doesnt sound that severe, the worst 1 i had , i had the machine shop cut .04 thou off the #3 cam journal so itdd fit, I couldnt get tha cam to fit for nuthin. the second time we just cut a thou off the journal, didnt really need it, but i wasnbt happ with the tight fit,if it turns freely in the new bearings fully installed, and there are no scrape marks on the cam journals, your ok. your right commando, they only go in 1 way and theyre tapered to fit in a certain order front to back.

Ok thanks, I don't like to spread unconfirmed information, but if it's all I got to help.

I'll pull the cam out and see if there are any scrapes on the bearings (fingers crossed). I'll let you know. Thanks alot, it is good to know i'm not alone with this problem!
