5 sp. swap for less $$ than Keisler?
I am trying to do this "home brew" style"; I cannot swing $3K! car is bare gutted shell right now in the bodywork phase; next will be assembly/mock up; I'm wanting a T5 from a Mustang behind a 318 Magnum. Any sources for T/O bearing (hydraulic/internal slave type) for <$500???
Oh; I am doing this "old school hot rod style" in a Volare. but that don't mean I want a hack job either by any means. I am decent (I would not call myself "great") the biggest thing would be the rear crossmember; I have a driveshaft shop near me, conversion bells are available,
next hurdle would be speedo drive.
I know I'm gonna have to modify a shifter handle as I want to use a factory F body console (that were originally only put into A/T cars) I dont believe that will be a big deal either. I have a torch a MIG and a stick welder, drill press, 15 Ton bearing press and more, here at home.

I have an AX 15 out of a 93 Dakota with 3.9; which means itll definitely bolt to my 318 without an issue; but I don't like the fact that it is a "jap" tranny; (Aisin Warner, same supplier as Toyota) I would never buy a Toyota, I'd rather walk; so why would I want a Toyota tranny in my Mopar?
remember the old "Keep your GM car all GM" as used to be on every GM air cleaner housing??? I have changed it; I wanna keep my American car ALL American. so, even though BORG Warner and AISIN warner (I think) are related, I am planning on a T 5 from a Mustang.
I am using mostly Mopar parts here (or aftermarket replacements of) but if I can't keep it all genuine Mopar (mixing/matching different parts thru teh years) I want it at least ALL American!
But remember the '50s and 60s? "32 Deuce, Lincoln suspension, Olds rear end, Merc flathead, Dodge radiator shell, guys ran what they had available? That's kind of what I am doing here.
