727 replacement, on a 64'

Ok guys need some advice!

The 727 in my 64' Sport Fury, isn't shifting right, The local Mopar shop can't find the cause neither can the local Tranny shop. Or at least find the cause without stripping the tranny down then, and if you gone that far you might as well rebuild it! With it being a 64' with one of the first floor shifters, it's not as simple to rebuild as the later 727's Or not a cheap to be more correct!

So I could spend $1500 to $2000 in rebuilding the tranny I have, a numbers matching, installed at the factory tranny! Keep the 64' cable shifter and linkage.

OR Drop in a later 727, post 67', with an after market floor shifter for $500 to $1200, depending on the source!

Thats pretty much my only two options if I want to drive this car this summer, or at all. Long term I'm thinking the later year tranny, cause finding parts for the 64' is a pain!

So what would you advise? Pro's cons? Other options?

What do you have for a motor in there now? Small block right?

What about buying a TCI Sizzler? TCI has a great warranty (fromt what I remember) and they are complete and all new. maybe a little more than what your looking at spending thouse at $800 plus shipping.

Got a big block, 383 in there now! The $800 is i the price range I can afford right now, but the shipping isn't, to get that tranny up to the frozen north and thru customs you can most likely add another $300.

I would get one that is a 67 and newer and rebuild one of them then.
