Mopar Forums - 727 Tailshaft swap

I have 2 727 tranny's. 1 out of my 79 motorhome with a Dodge 400. It has a drum type emergency brake bolted to the end that receives the drive shaft bolt on yolk. Had a friend rebuild it and 35miles later went out again. He thinks the case is bad. It has the longer tailshaft. I was given another trans with a shorter shaft (not sure what vehicle) to try and make 1 working tranny. I have no experience on Dogde's. Can I take the long tail shaft off the bad tranny and swap it onto the othe trans to allow the e brake and drive shaft to still work? Do I have to go into the case's of each to dissaemble or simply just unbolt the 2 shaft and trade? :confused:Thanks for any help out there!
