A/C Compressor Bracket

Ok, another question on the road to getting my wagon ready for summer, which appropriately is a/c related. I have to install my compressor which came off of a 71 Cuda 6cyl. Its the right compressor, wrong bracket. Anybody got any idea on where to go for this?

so you need a 70-79 big block ac bracket which bolts to the front of engine or the bracket that bolts on the back or the third bracket which is an arm that bolts from the top to either the front bracket or intake (depending on year)?

Also engine size would help.

You do know that your system needs R12 freon. You can still get some on Ebay if you have a license. The system should be completely flushed New oil and checked for leaks . If you convert it to R134 I would get a New style new/rebuilt compressor

Sorry should have thought to add the basics. It's a 1969 plymouth 318 5.2 passenger side front mounted bracket. I do intend on converting it to r-134a with the original compressor. Hopefully she will work.

going with r134 has problems with systems as a qualified ac specialist will tell you. The oils used in the two systems do NOT react well with each other.

There is however the propane/butane/I forget what/ aftermarket can systems that are compatible. As long as there is no leaks in the system it seems to work fine and is not flamable.

318 it is just the front bracket that goes over the waterpump and alternator and then a rear tubular bracket. The original pump is a good system if you go with a newer pump you have problems with location as they sit over the thermostat.

Btw the clutch on the original v pump comes off with a bolt not a special puller.

5/8 corse thread bolts should get the compressor clutch off. The brackets should be EASY to find ANY 70's vintage small block with fact air will have the brackets cars, trucks vans ... The Alt brackets and spacers and pulleys are different too ! If they changed them from the original air parts???
I don't know what you had ? May have been an aftermarket add on ? The small block Air cond pump bo;ts to the top mounting holes for the water pump & into the block and would have different pulleys
I would find something at the junkyard and get everything Factory Air was a two belt system went around the compressor ALT, and lower pully

Look for something from late 70's Volare/Aspen anything that had a 318 or 360 will fit

SQUID, get ahold of Mo-Par City in Illinois, they are a Mopar only junkyard and have 5 1/2 acres of 60s and 70s parts cars as well as new and used parts http://www.moparcity.com/, I have bought from them with good success but sometimes it takes a few days to get a part if they have to remove it from the yard and they ship too. good luck
