fuel pump priming?

How much turning of the engine has to occur for the fuel pump to prime itself and fill the carb? and allow the engine to run?

I had it running for about 5 mins by just spray bottling fuel in the carb.. would that be sufficient time? the pump is going to turn anytime the engine is right? Maybe i have to add new lines and an electric pump tank-carb..?

If you have a mechanical pump now and the lines, filter etc are good and the pump itself is good it should deliver fuel right away.

If you had it running for 5 minutes by misting/spraying fuel into carb yes the pump should of 'picked up' the fuel. Only thing it can be no fuel in tank, or bad pump. If there is a pre-pump filter it could also be plugged....;)

the fuel pump only needs a few seconds to really prime itself

i would check over your fuel lines, change gas filter
and check your timing
it could be so off that the car just wont start
