Header choice
I am installing a 440 in my 69 B body. I need to get a set of headers for it and not sure what to get. Are there pros and cons as to what brand has a better fit and finish? Is the ceramic coating worth the extra cost? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I have Hedman headers for my '72 charger with a 360. They do have a special bend in them for the power steering. Putting them in wasn't really hard it was just time consuming. I had to take the centerlink and starter off and jack the engine up three inches on the driver side. And then on the passenger side I had to take the oil filter off and it fit right up there. I am sure your year is a little different but it should be the same idea.

headers
Hemmings Muscle Machines did a complete article on header choice for B-Body big blocks last month. It depends on what you are doing with the engine. Racing and High performance will benefit from a short large header set up. Street and general use will benefit from a longer smaller diameter header.
I am building a 440 bored .30 over, with 84cc edelbrock RPM heads, Edelbrock dual plane intake, crane cam slightly larger than stock, and an eddy 4brl. Mostly everything else is stock with the goal of a 5500rpm high torque street beast. I am going with TTI 2 1/2 inch headers with ceramic coat. The coating is supposed to help with heat displacement.

definitly the tti`s, they are made specific for your car, and they dont require as much for installation.if price is an issue then I agree with scotty, use the heddmans. they have the best fit after the ttis, ive tried several sets of blackjacks over the years and they suck, the tubes warp. theyre not the best to start with as far as fit n finish. I sent back 2 sets ounce for a cuda w/ r/g ounce causse they were bent at the collector so bad they hit the floor pan, the seconmd set was worse then the first. then i got hedmans, ttis werent out then.
