Hood latch assembly
 

My 84 Dodge D250 318 gasser hood is stuck shut... I bought a new cable latch for it and my mechanic guy broke it already... so it's not releasing the hood! I'm hoping to reach out to somebody that actually knows the specific hood latch/lock/mechanism that I have on this particular year/model (1984 D250 318 motor) & what I can I do to manually release the hood? also could use a diagram/picture of where to release the spring action latch and what tools I could possibly use without drilling holes in my truck... I've done two days worth of searching on a few of the most popular search engines goo/tube and I keep getting beat around the bush with other vehicle models/ 2500/3500 series Dodge pickups... Yeah I'm bummed I just did a leveling kit on it and we got it off the jack stands...Go to open the hood the hook up the negative battery cable & the hood is stuck shut and I'm going WTF? Ask my buddy that's been doing the work on it, "why is the grill off" 🤔
He says he can't get the hood open, it's stuck shut...So, that's where I'm at I

You can see how the front end is sagging so I did some Three inch spacers I tried bigger springs but they were too stiff... No pics after we leveled her up but I did get about 3 in

can't start my truck and test drive it till I get this freaking hood open...

Of course, without seeing the latch it's difficult. The bolts holding the latch in place, can you get in there and remove them?

Shoot us some photos of what you can of the latch......
If i recall... On the front side of the latch closet to the grill... you can see a little hole in one of the moving brackets... If it has that little bracket you can pull down on it and the hood should latch will release... That part also work in combination with the part that works with the cable end....

Hope you can unbolt it like Kuvasz said....

Mechanical fuel pump
 

Hey racer hog, you got any insight on the mechanical fuel pump? I've added an electric fuel pump cuz I got tired of messing with the mechanical... Right now the electric is running through the mechanical and I want to bypass the mechanical pump... Do I have to remove the mechanical pump and put a blank on the whole or can I leave the mechanical on the vehicle and run a fuel line loop?

Leave the pump and just run a bypass tube with a couple hose clamps,,,, Should be good to go after that...
Dont forget to check the fuel pressure to make sure your not putting to much pressure in the needle and seat....
