key and tumbler replacement on 1949 Plymouth
I have the ignitions switch (starter switch) unlocked finally on a 1949 Plymouth Business Coupe, but having trouble getting to the ignition switch to release the tumbler assembly to replace it with a new one that has a key.
Must a be a small hole in the switch body, but need help on how to get it. Does the entire ignition switch have to come out? If so, how is it fastened to the dash? How do I replace it? Thanks |
For anyone else, there is a small screw recessed into the dash just under the ignition switch. You remove the wires from the back of the switch first, then you can remove the ignition switch.
Once the switch is out, turn the tumbler assembly to the "ON" position and the push a small recessed button at about the 11 o clock position on the switch to release the tumbler assembly. |
Thanks for the info and update.... Good to know... Thanks for sharing... :)

Thanks all for your help, i learn much from it and would definitely try it without hiring a locksmith.
