i'm replacing the lower control arm bushings in my 66 b body and have come across something i didn't expect. after removing the lca shaft and the metal outside shell of the bushing there seems to be another shell in the bushing hole. i'm not sure if this has to be taken out too before a new bushing is pressed in.anybody have any idea's? thanks, yamahogg1@hotmail.com

 

i figured it out myself. what looks like another metal bushing shell stays in the bushing holes. i pressed the new bushings in without a problem.

 

no problem...got the bushings and shafts back in the lca's.now all i have to do is clean, paint and put the front suspension back together.

 

i used polyurethane bushings to do the front end..except the lower control arms which i used rubber bushings. i changed out the front strut rods for some heavy duty ones, used tubular control arms and new torsion bars with new ball joints all the way around. its a fairly big job but should be worth the effort in the end.

 

i'll let you know how they work out...as in if i can get a good wheel alignment with them compared to the stock ones. they look good and apparently will give you more caster adjustment when the front end is lowered.i should be out in the shop putting all this together but i'm waiting for an e-bay purchase to arrive (lower control arm plates) so i can weld them in to box in the lca arms.

 

they're not much lighter than the stock arms on my coronet but they LOOK COOL!!!!!!!!
