motor info

hey everyone, ive searched this forums for some info but have come up short. my 68 coronet has a 360 in it. unfortunatley, since this was not a stock motor i need help in finding out where this 360 came from. are there numbers on the motor anywhere that could tell me where what kind of 360 it is? thanks gurus

360s are pretty much 360s. They did change some over the years getting more HP and then losing some. If you can get us the casting numbers off of it we can help you out. Also there are 2 or 3 clock looking casting, that may help us out too.

The clock looking things denote day shift night shift and time of day, but as Tim said get the numbers off the block and we can tell ya a few things.

I believe there is a V.I.N stamped into the pan rail near the bottom of the engine. (Good luck finding it !) post this number for us & we can tell you what year, make & model the 360 came out of. But like 78D200 said, they are all pretty much the same, unless you totally lucked out & got a police pursuit 360 !

lol......is having a police pursuit 360 lucky?? or are you being sarcastic (nervous laugh)

I would call it equal to having a 340 with an upgrade or two. police cars always got the best stuff, especially when it comes to motors.

i could not find any numbers!! the only numbers i found are "392" on the oil pan.

also, on the front of the block i found somthing that said "before after" with o's or 0's underneath it, and on the side under the 1st plug theres a "21" WTF

Check the boss above the water pump and check the block drivers side about halfway/middle just above the oil pan rail.
