Polara Fender Tag Help?
 

Hi, does anyone have a book to decode fender tags? I just got a '64 Polara 500 and want to see what options it came with. Here's what the tag reads:

My Book only decodes the one line.

Thanks Don, I appreciate it. I guess the number "1" is missing from my paint code, the tag only says "SS" not "SS1." Do you have any idea were I can decode the other line? Trying to see what the original motor was, among other things...

Base Engine in a Polara 500 was a 305 HP 383 2Bbl Premium fuel with single exhaust.
Optional engines were
330 HP 383 4Bbl. Duel Exhaust
365 HP 426 4Bbl.
415 HP 426 Max Wedge 2x4Bbl 11/1 comp.
425 HP 426 Max Wedge 2x4Bbl 12.5/1 Comp.
If the original engine is there it will be stamped on a machined surface on the block just behind the water Pump with the engine ID and prodution Date .
Your Vin should start out with a
6(V8)
3(Polara)
Then assembly plant (1 of the following)
2,3 Detroit
5 LA
6 Newark
7 St Luis
digits 5-10 Sequence number

It's got a 361, I have to go back and check the date code. I found a decoded body tag online, some of the info matches mine so I was able to decode these letters:

H5 FRONT HEATER
M3 BACK UP LIGHTS
N8 DUAL JET WINDSHIELD WASHER
P2 OUTSIDE LH REMOTE MIRROR
T4 70 AMP HD BATTERY

BDY 6=DODGE V8 4=POLARA 500 5=CONVERTIBLE

TRIM P=PREMIUM (BUCKETS) 4=VINYL X=BLACK?

Still have 8 different letters to decode, including the engine...
