'04 Intrepid knock.

Hey, my girl's '04 Intrepid has a loud knocking, Check engine says it's a Cam sensor, so that's my guess ofcourse. But I know that camshafts are dealer parts for these cars. What could I do?

2.7L DOHC
2004 Intepid

Should she just try to sell the car?

There were/are several class action suits regarding the 2.7 engine oiling problems !! It could be a bad connecting rod bearing

Was actually thinking it could have been a rod. Any clue on the pricing of the fix?

Probably better off junking the car. It Is worthless with a bad engine. Or you can spend maybe 5K for a new engine
DON'T buy a junkyard engine !!!!

It might cost you a pretty penny. The thing is, are you willing to push out some to do a huge repair or just go with a new vehicle.

Yeah, I specialize in rebuilding these. Your motor is toast! BUT!!!!!!! on the good side! A 3.3 or 3.5 conversion is VERY easy in these cars! Probably much cheaper than a replacement! There are sites all over the web for this. Do some work, and you will find them! http://www.google.com/search?q=2.7+t...client=firefox This is just the first page of swaps! Us Roadrunner guys gotta help eachother!

Thanks Scotts, but sorry to say the Intrepid is GONE! My girl broke down on the main drag, engine completely seized up so nothing would work. Not even hazards? Apparently.

Shame, 3.5 are a dime a dozen, and an easy swap for the Intrepid.
