1961 383 fuel pump
Any suggestions for a mecanical fuel pump replacement that is currently on the market for this engine? I have seen quite a few advertised from companies that say that they will fit, but I have learned to be skeptical. I will probably add an electric later as a backup but want a current mechanical for now. I have also seen that they are real easy to rebuild, which I will probably do later to the one I pull off. What I would appreciate is knowing if any of you have bought a current fuel pump that is on the market and had sucess. The car is a 1961 Windsor. I bought the car a few weeks ago and it has been sitting for awhile. I rebuilt the carb and the engine runs well, but I know better than to believe in a fuel pump that has been sitting for years.

Maybe try Carter or Airtex.....
If Not Check with these folks....https://www.oldmoparts.com/ |
I'd change out the pump to cam rod while at it. They definitely wear and cause a knocking sound when worn.

I can’t remember what years it was that the 383 was produced in a RB format. I can’t recall if it was the end of the first year and the second and third year of production or simply the first and second years?

Thanks for the info. I have never dealt with a fuel pump with a cam rod before. Luckily there is a lot of information on what to expect. It actually looks like it will be easier to deal with that the ones that run off an eccentric, like the ones I am used to.
