On the raised machined area behind the water pump on the block. 41 is for 413, 42 is for 426 wedge. R is 1961 S is 1962.

i read in a book at Barnes and Nobel of a 1962 chrysler special order 413 high compression engine . it had code R41 or S42. perhaps the numbers are published wrong in the book. from what you said the R41 would not be a 62 chrysler and the s42 could not be a 413 engine. the article in the book was talking about the 62 chrysler with a 413 engine. please let me know if you find any information about this. thank you. my 62 chrysler is a 4-door and does have the code S41 where you said to look.it does have the in-line 2-four barrell carter carburators.
