1962 dodge 200.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie...... I have a 1962 dodge 200 I have been trying to restore for the last two months. The truck is a complete rebuild, from the body to the motor and trans. I have the original poly 318 which I have decided not to rebuild. My reason is it is cheaper to rebuild a 440 out of a motor home, them to rebuild the poly. I found a 1976 440 out of a motor home, I'm currently rebuilding the 440. I have up the compression to 9.5 vice the 8.0. I have also added a mild cam, new springs and a complete rebuild. My questions is what kind of intake should I add? also what kind of carb should I use? I was thinking about using Edlebrock performer intake double plane, with a 850 holley.. All input welcomed. Thank you...

Semper!

Hopefully you got the tranny with that 440. Don't quote me but I believe that the 318's tranny will not bolt up to the 440. Other's on here would know better than I.

As for an intake, you'll want one that matches the RPM range of the cam you have. Also an 850 sounds a little much for a mildly built motor, IMO. A 750 would probably work out well. rickyr would be the guy to talk to as he is a Tech for Holley.

I do have the tranny that came with the motor home. I guess I did luck out. Also thank you for answering my question. I will post pictures soon...

The noce thing about the 440s from motor homes is that they have larger or extra cooling passages (so I've been told). I've also heard that the angle of the heads are a little different than the 440s from the cars and trucks causing issues with header fitment. Just something to think about when the time comes.

Damn, I was worried about that. I have seen headers made for motor homes, I wish I would have bought them when I seen them.

Like I said "so I was told" so I'm not sure how much truth there is behind that. I'm sure some of the people here on the board have swapped motor home motors into their rides so they would know better than I.

People like PK1, TVLynn, Archer, Coronet 500 (just to name a few) I'm sure would know.
