Any vacuum leaks ????
|
No vacuum leaks the only vacuum lines I have are two coming off the carb one going to the pcv valve and the other going to the vacuum on the distributor
|
Ok...With most thing in good order.... No Vacuum leaks, Timing is good Now?
Ran good before the swap? How does it idle? If it idles good (800RPM) and is good and smooth? I'm going to guess you have ether the wrong float level setting or a problem in the transfer or high speed.... Check for a plugged Air Bleed.... Just my 2 cents |
It does idle smooth once the timing is set then when i put it in gear the timing is all messed up again and yes it ran real good before the swap i dont know what it idles at
|
HAve you gotten a vacuum reading yet? Should be around 16" min.?
I'm not really understanding what your timing issue is just yet? |
Thanks for the help I changed out the carb back to a two barrel and im gonna have the q jet looked at maybe i forgot something on it or its not tuned to a 318 i hope this one lasts me my truck is running good till i put it in gear then it runs rough gonna do some more tinkering with the timing tomorrow
|
Thats where the vacuum was at it was sitting around 16 after i replaced the pcv valve and a couple hoses.. the timing problem i had was when i put it in gear the timing jumped from 12 degrees to 6 or sometimes 8 today when i checked it and put new plugs and wires and cap and rotor in it was way off but i got it back to 12 and will try to do some more to it tomorrow thanks again Racerhog

Something is not right The timing shouldn't change Unless the vacuum canister is getting hooked up wrong or the vacuum is hooked to full time vacuum...

What size carb ? is it a avs ?
I work on lots of 318s make em real fast your carb is not tund for the 318 2 bbl power springs that inrich the carb are tund for a larger camed/ci vac needs and bY unless you can tune the Springs , Rods, and Jets your goin to pull your hair and cuse a storm you would be better getting a tunning kit for the carb my 318 with a large cam ported 360 heads and eddle 650 avs im running 65 jets and 70/42 rods and im still going to lean her out more 12% under factory tune so you can see your way over carbed at least your way too rich for your motor for LA motors dont think cheby think mopar and they run lean . |
P.S. Your timing issue could be caused by sticky or worn internals
