Intake: Edelbrock Air Gap 7576 $300
Carb: Holley 650 used and rebuild it. You will need to tune it anyway. $150
Pistons KB167 $400
Reuse the crank and rods.
Heads EQ318B Castings: 600 a set plus hardware. Get them bare. Set them up at home with a 5/16 Chevy Valve. Use 2.02 / 1.625. Use 5/16 / to 3/8 rocker studs with any roller chevy 1.5 / 1.6 rockers from a gen 1 motor. Off the shelf guide plates but split them, then tac them for proper alignment. The spring pocket, step and retainer to guide clearance will need work but you need the valve first.
Comp 901 Valve springs for stock lifter / Comp 995 if you use a roller

Save the balance of cash for machine work and head set up.

Cam it according to the band you want. Use a vendor that turns the lobe for .904 lifter diameter.

Keep it simple. This is a solid, powerful, low cost, very reliability combo..

I would use the LD4B intake if you can find one used , it is one of the only intakes for the smaller port heads & use the smaller Holley 570 Avenger . I have used the 302 or 308 swirl casting heads with great success but they would be used also . Just a different idea !
