383 distributor problem

ok so i got my 383 up and running it ran great and fine then it stoped so i pulled out the distributor hoping to clean it up(i know im dumb) then it started again but now its sparking everywhere at the points and its running way to fast at idle it has new points in it what happend and how do i fix it?

When you stuck the distributor back in you turned it and advanced the timing more. Thus it runs faster at idle. Turn it clockwise to redard the timing a bit.

yeah i know that but that isnt the problem i did do that the problem is that my new points are sparking at the bottom instead of the top now causing my engine to run way to fast

We need picchhuurrsss

You must have somehow got the points in wrong. There's a little "nubbin" that they seat onto and keeps them in the right place
