383 fresh rebuild
hello i have a 1967 383 engine out of a polara. I have had basic machine work done. the block has been gone through and bored 30 over. the heads and have had a stock valve job and i have a new stock crank.
Im wanting to put this in my truck, what do i need to do to get maybe 400hp out of this beast if possible. just looking for high bottom end power for a daily driver truck not a street racer. thanks guys
the parts i have so far:
COMP Cams High Energy Cam and Lifter Kit Cam/Lifters/Valvetrain, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Adv. Duration 268/268, Lift .454/.454,
new valves

Not my first choice of cam for what your application is but not a bad one.
I ran this on Camquest program with headers, high flow dual plane and 660 carb and came up with.
357 hp 442 tq.
To get to 400 hp bigger cylinder head ports will be needed or bigger cam. Pocket porting brought it up to
375 hp 448 tq.
What you've got will make a great truck engine.
