452 heads

I have a stock 440 and 2 452 heads. One is in the motor and an extra set that has been ported but don't know anything about it. I have been taking the valves out to get them cleaned and shaved possibly but some of the valves are stuck. Any ideas how to get them out

Bump

RacerHog Dec 20, 2014 03:54 PM

Long drift punch... Beat them out and throw them in the trash...
Sound like someone set the heads up wrong on the first go round..
That just my 2 cents....

What about them being an open chamber? Are they worth my time?

452 Is a good Head..... But I read your going to boost it!!! Use the preditor head.... Or even a set of Victor's would be good....

If the valve stem tips are mushroomed, you may wish to file/grind the tips before removing the valves to prevent cracking the valve guide bosses during removal of the valves.

I'm not familar with the predator head. Who makes them? My idea was to hand port my 452 and then when I finish building my other block I would use aluminium heads when I boost.

Thanks. I will try that out. I'm just worried about what I've read about open chamber heads

Preditor heads are made by Indy correct?

yes... Not sure you need that much of a Cylinder head. But something to throw around.... You might even try B1 Heads... If it fits the program a little better... Just food for thought..:)

Those preditor heads what I saw were $5000ish
I'm assuming for both but not sure

Your 452 heads are a good and desirable part in the Mopar world.

There are Step Pistons available to raise compression with open chamber heads.

Merry Christmas, Dan. Now to go and open presents as the family is waking up.

Merry Christmas. Thanks. I got one set on my motor and another set of 452 just sitting around

I've thought about getting mp template and porting it out hat way and do a 30° back cut in the valves. Any thoughts in that idea?
