470stroker

I'm building a stroker, started out 451stroker but cam across a really good deal on a 3.9"stroke eagle crank.

Ok 2 questions

1. I already have the pistons for the 451. Now the 470crank has .15" more stroke. Which is .075" at top and bottom.
Can I machine .075" off the 451 pistons to use them with 470 crank. Looks like enough material.

2. Can I hone out stock rods and make them floating without bushings?

You can try it.... But the results are not going to be beneficial...

Trying to save $$$ will cost you in the long run !!! DO it right the first time !!

Buy a new set of pistons and if you want brushed rods buy the ruds at the same time. Maybe you can sell the parts you have now. :)

I have to agree, my machinist doesn't like touching the tops of any pistons and when we talk about rods he say there are so many good ones now that are reasonable cost as compared to machining, buy 'em.

Personally I've always liked the 451 which has almost perfect geometry.

Another thought ? I think the 470 requires an external oiling system Check before spending $$$$
