Can I run a tunnel ram on a stock 318
 

So I have a tunnel ram and I want to put it on my 73 charger, on a tight budget.
I was wandering if I could put it on a stock 318
I don’t want to get a new cam just to run the tunnel ram

i don’t want to really take out the motor either.
if this is possible without having to get a better cam and lifters, can I just run a cheap 4 barrel carb. Right now it has a two barrel carb so this is a big jump to two four barrel carbs. I only want it to look cool and to drive it around not much of a racer,

if this would work how would I get gas running through both, I was thinking a T line? Or if possible some sort of fuel rail, and a tunnel ram linkage, I know I wouldn’t have any bottom end, if the motor blows I would better off getting a 383 or 340, I don’t really want to grind out the intake, but yep thanks 4 reading

Can you? Sure, but you really won't like it.
Understand that tunnel rams are high RPM manifolds, and the odds on you ever getting into its power band, much less staying there, are pretty close to zero.
"No bottom end" would be an understatement and do you really want to cut a hole in your hood???

Since this is the Internet, I'm sure somebody will tell you how to do it, but I wouldn't.

If the 318 blows, you can go either small or big block, but another small block would be easier and cheaper.
A 360 crate motor would be your best bet.

Good advice, and this man knows stuff. You could buy two carbs and block off the secondaries, become a carb expert and carry around tools in your pocket to constantly adjust them to maybe one day have it run decent for one day, not much hot rod fun. Some might say trade it for a 4 barrel set up but I wouldn’t.

My advice is, keep the tunnel for that day you have a 408 stroker tunnel ram ‘73 Charger, wicked cool car.

Today find an inexpensive 360 cast iron 4 barrel manifold (inexpensive and very good manifold) buy a used carb and rebuild it, set up your kick down properly and have some good cheap hot rod fun. Add a used nitrous system for power if your not worried about breaking it and have even more cheap hot rod fun.

Every street tunnel ram that I have seen that worked well were on big blocks, 440, 460, 454 that had an abundance of low end grunt.
the last 318 tunnel ram setup I saw on the dyno made 300hp and probably would have made more power with a single 4V intake. The motor wasn't stock and he spent well over a grand trying to make the tunnel ram work.
If you have a 318 that will turn 7500 rpm in a 2800 lbs car with a 4 speed and 4.88 gears or steeper I'd say go for it, but a stock 318 I'd pass.
