Dodge 360 to 2002 Durango

I have a 97 Dodge Ram engine, will it work with a 2002 Durango that had a 4.7 motor in it.

With some work yes but you'd be better off finding another 4.7L.

To swap the 5.9L in you'll need mounts, exhaust manifolds and "Y" pipe, wiring harness, PCM, fuel line (I think they are run differently), and probably some other stuff that I'm missing. I'm not sure if the bellhousing bolt pattern is even the same.

Unless the 5.9L has been built up some, I'd leave the 4.7L in there. The 4.7L makes almost the same power as the 5.9L anyhow. Not to mention the 4.7L responds better to upgrades than the 5.9L.

It will "fit" but making it work will be expensive and time consuming. If its a project go for it. I do not believe the pcm has the aftermarket support in the 4.7 but the ram pcm wont know the difference as far as what vehicle it is in. The ram pcm can be modified easily. Can you take the primary dist block and pcm from the Ram?

The 4.7 came with the 45RE transmission I believe that year. Look at the cross member and it should be stamped 45RE. This wont bolt to the 5.9

BUT..... the 5.9 will fit......

If you need a motor look at LQK or www.car-parts.com. Don't let the mileage scare you. The 4.7 did REALLY well with wear and tear. Change the chain and oil pump and go.
