Edelbrock Aluminum Heads - Angled Valve Cover Bolt Holes??
Hi Everyone!
New member here!!! I'm currently building a 1934 Dodge, fully custom street rod.... Check it out here: http://34dodge.blogspot.com/ My engine is currently at the motor shop....a mopar 440 big block.. It is being completely rebuilt, bored .030, engle cam, Edlebrock aluminum heads, harland sharp roller rockers, edlebrock aluminum intake, quickfuel hd780 carb. Everything has been assembled on the engine and its sitting on the dyno. As we go to bolt on the valve covers, we found out ALL the valve cover holes in the head are at a slight angle.... has anyone else seen this? At this point, we're too far along to tear it all apart again and try to re-drill all the holes.... we're going to try some threaded rod in the holes, and then hammered straight... worth a shot. Thanks everyone! ~Philcash |

The valve guides and seats were all over the map on mine, had them blueprinted and they're great now. Nice car btw.

Welcome to the site Phil.....
Cant say I have had the Valve cover bolt problem... That's a odd one!! But like Mr. 4speed said... I have had to have all there heads gone threw to have the valve stem height corrected..... But other than that... They work great for there intended use.... Love those old 41 Dodges...... Just an FYI... I just seen a ProMod Body of a 41..Soo Cool.. :) http://fastdoorslammers.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=15112 |
Every one should complain to Edelbrock about their quality control

Here is the crooked vent cover bolt.......... tapping them with a hammer to straighten them out works perfectly fine........ just cheezey this passed quality control?
They are all angled the same way, on both heads! I put a red squared on it so you can see how much they are off!!!!! Attachment 8830 |

:look::welcome2:Very nice car and looks like a lot of work & money...But all these cars cost a ton of money cashcashLove the color... Hope it all goes well with the rest of your build...I would call Edlebrock and tell them about the V/C bolt holes,, maybe there jig is off and needs to be corrected... And maybe they will send you a perk for bringing it to there attention...Cant hurt right...Bill
