exuast manifold water?

exuast manifold water?

do i say oh no or oh

i was wanting to replace the gasket behind my exhuast manifold

so l started to back out one of the bolts and hmm water the color of my water coolent. if its normal no problem i drain it.


but if its not oh nooo.

so maybe someone can tell me is this normal a co worker says its impossible 4 there to b water

It is normal !! Several of the exhaust studs screw into the water jacket...

It is normal. Before you install the bolts be sure to clean the threads and apply a sealant to them.

yea i found the same thing with my RR but i was under it replacing the starter when my mate undone the bolt so got a nice mouthful of coolant good times!

Wait....We're not done yet! Now ask what is best to seal those bolts with! [kinda like arguing fishing lures!] I use Loctite 567. A pipe sealant recommended to me by the pipefitters at work, never a problem.

your correct i was debating this in my head over the weekend and saw your post today

i was going to use the same stuff i used for my gasoline inlets on my carb.

i dont remember the number its lock tight but its reacts when it sniffs out metal surroundings

i think the carb has a diff temp than the exhaust mani so i may be back to use your recommended...
