good suggestion for fuel on high compression engine...
 

what do you guys think would be a good mixture/octane rating to run my 340 on? i got 7035p pistons pumping out 13.1-1 compression. i was thinking of gettin some aviation fuel and mixing it with some 94 pump. any other ideas? i hear the stuff in the bottle that you can get at autozone or what have you does not really help...

13 to 1 100% 110 octane racing fuel !!! Or change the pistons

lol i was thinking that myself lol. i have it all torn down right now. was gettin some blowby but to the eye i see no visual problems with the rings. i was wondering if running just 94 was causing it but not sure haha...

definitly the high octane racing fuel if you can afford it I think youll be more impressed with that then anything else. There is a big difference on how they react if you were to just add the octane to like 91. and another down fall with the racing fuel is you cant pump it directly into your car you have to bottle it and then put it in.

so could the low octane be causing all the blowby does anyone think???

It's too late now but you could have done a leak down test to check rings. I would spend the money to replace the rings no matter what they look like

what do you guys think is better... turbo blue or aviation fuel???

I have never used it but I would say Turbo blue. It has different additives than airplane fuel

i have a buddy who drag races and he loves turbo blue but like with anything some like it some dont

thanks all for the helpful input!!! the only thing i worry bout with turbo blue is tryin to find gas in NY that isnt cut with stupid ethanol...

Avgas octane is measured on the MON system. 100LL the blue stuff is only 96 octane on the (R+M)/2. +1 for 110 race fuel.

However if you can find the GREEN STUFF 100/130 (very rare now) and run it rich (that's how they get the 130 rating) you might get away with using it for cruising, but it's still risky till you get it tuned and know it's working. It's also very illegal on the street because of the lead, and a good cop is gonna know somethings up from the smell alone.
