Hemi 426 - Help please - Rockerarm dont hit valve stem correct
 

Hi Guys

I have been builing a Dodge Charger Hemi 426 for about 3 years and was about to ajust the valves a few weeks ago, but I found that the rockerarm did not "hit" the valve stem in the center. After searching the web for a few weeks with no solution i found this forum. I really hope you can help?

In my opinion the rockerarm shoud "hit" the valve in the center or very close, but this setup it hits the valve on the edge. see attached pictures.

Its a Hemi 426 from 1970 and the heads are brand new Edelbrock Hemi heads (it is the same problem with the old original hemi heads).

Its this just the way it was made back then?

As I see it there is no way to adjust this - any input will be greatly appriciated.

Wow.. I would almost say those are the wrong stands if I didnt know better !!!!!! And Dam, I know how much a set of stands are. So its not like you just grab a few sets and see whats happening !!!!!
My suggestion would be to Mock the Valvetrain system up with a couple washers under the stands and see if this might be the issue and help it.
Another thing to look at is the Spring Hight and the valve stem length.
But you are rite... That is way wrong..

I agree 100%, valves too long or stands too low.
