Intake Manifold number of gaskets?
i ordered from summet the intake manifold gaskets
told the guy it has a edelbrock 440 performer
i remember him saying yes you will have a valley pan
i look it up on the internet.. ok yes im a num nut it must have one
so i received 2 intake gaskets ... do i only need the two and the valley pan gets its own
or should i of recieved/ordered a total of 4?
mine kind of looks like this with the emptyness under the intake manifold
-just to show that it needs a valley pan -

Lots of posts on this, Dan. I tried using all 4 gaskets years ago. No luck. The intake bolts were hard to get in, and I ended-up with a leak. And I stripped one bolt. I never used just 2 gaskets on the intake side. That may work fine. I ended up just using the valley pan with Permatex Hylomar on both sides of the valley pan ports, and had success. Of course, the standard RTV at the ends of the pan.

I finished up on the vally pan. I tried putting the gaskets on over the vally pan and i couldnt get the bolts to line up. spent close to 30 min straining to get it right and than i tried with out them and it fit fine
i used some brownish rtv (high heat) and used some copper sealent around the gas ports
i would of been able to check for leaks but...
in the middle of the job my husky brand ratchet fell and Broke!
than finally after getting to my carb and the linkage the spot of hard rubber where the linkage fits on the gas pedal tore.
im still waiting for that to be delivered so i can finish the linkage and carb work.
:banghead:.....................but in the end she looks so good with no make up on!! i guess thats what keeps me going
