Mopar V8 newbie has questions

Hi,
I recently bought an all-original '77 Dodge Adventurer SE 150 pickup. Its pretty clean considering it's 35 years old. I am unsure which small block V8 it has. I've read that there is a code stamped on the block telling what size it is. Does anyone know what/where the code is for the 318 and 360?

Also, I am thinking that the oil pump needs replaced. Is it very hard to get at? I am wanting to do as much of the repairs on this truck myself.

Thanks in advance.

It's probably a 318 maybe a 360 ? if it is a 4bbl. Either motor requires the oil pan to be removed to access the oil pump. Why do you think the pump needs replacement ?

It will tell you 318 0r 360 right on the side of the block.

Ok, thanks guys.

I think the oil pump needs replaced because when it warms up, the oil pressure gauge reads almost 0psi at idle. Plus, it has a nasty ticking noise when the gauge is near 0. It's either a weak oil pump or a sticking lifter (for the ticking noise).

Remove the pan and replace the bearings and the oil pump. In actually it probably needs a rebuild

TVLynn is right X2 on that
i have done that repair 3 times over the years and it work out fine all three times, 2 car's and a van.
and while your in there you might as well change the timing chain and gear set and since your in there you may try a new cam and lifter set, i bet your cam is worn, then you can top it off with new intake and carb.
How many miles are on that vehicle?

They used nylon coating on the timming gear, most of the time that comes off and cloggs the oil pick up. Do a timming set also
