O2 Sensor placement

So I have done a bunch of reading on this now and figure its time I just ask on here as I have read so many things now I dont know what to believe. I am installing a wideband O2 sensor on my 383. I am hoping to weld the bung in just past the headers as Im not keen on cutting up my TTI headers. Would you say this is "too far" down? I know people say its overkill for a carburated engine but I will be going to fuel injection within the next year.

Thanks,

Gary
