Right size carb for stock 318?

What is a good size carb for a stock 318? I am going to be switching the stock intake to a edelbrock performer intake so I can add a 4 barrel carb. I do not want to over size it and have no plans on doing anything else to the motor for a while. Could you recommend a size and brand to go with? Thanks...

I'm using an Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel with a Weiand 8007 on my 318 build, I have a mild cam, but 600 should be just fine with stock cam, and leave you room to upgrade it later. You could push it to 650, but I wouldn't go any higher then that with a mostly stock 318. But if you want better performance, and throttle response, go with a Holley 600, I had to settle with an Edelbrock because of price, but its still a good little carb.

From what I could find online the Holley and the edelbrock are around the same $$$ roughly $300. So if that's the case go with a Holley? Is a 500 cfm to small?

I run one of these on a 318 (+.030") with a bit less cam than MOVO.
