This is why I take pictures of everything before I take them apart.
OK, #1, here we go standing on the exhaust side looking at the head, "washer" hold downs are left to right small, big, small, big and small.
#2, The bolts are all the same length, 1 7/8" I buy grade 8, 5/16nc X 2" and grind them shorter if needed.
#3, rocker shaft notch goes down on your left. So driver side is front, passenger side is rear.
#4, Looking down into the rocker the pushrod dimple is from left to right along the shaft, !st one is to the left 2nd is to the right, the next pair is left then right, then left then right.
When you roll your rocker arm assembly onto the pushrods it will be quite obvious if they are wrong as the rods will not be straight.
Very important when you tighten down the (5) Five hold down bolts to hand tighten then turn each one 1/4 turn only then another 1/4 turn and so on until snug. Do not tighten one at a time. ALWAYS checking to see the pushrods remain in their lifter cup.

No besting anyone Moe, sounds like the first time for our friend, something I'm sure you've done 100 times.
Think back and I'm sure you can come up with a trick or two to help him out.
Oh, the grease thing is ok, break in lube is better. The real sticky stuff so it doesn't droop off.

well it has been LONG time since doing the rocker shafts. and the only book i have here has only a small block, and it was not very good. the 67 chrysler book does not have the small block in to. the 20 plus books are in storage. the thing to remember is if its done one way on small block it might not be like that on a big block. it is interesting that some books show something well and some not. when i say book i mean chrysler factory service manual. now that i have a good home ill set up a cabinet with my all books. coronets post is top notch. SOOO did i wast enough of your time? LOL LOL
