Seafoam in old engines?
 

I just wanted some opinions on using seafoam either in the gas or with the oil? I've heard it can really help older engines and I've heard its not so good for them. I thought it might help to get all the carbon out of my engine. BTW its on a 361 BB if that matters

Where exactly in the engine are you worried that carbon might be there?
If anything, I would just run the car and let it clean itself out. If you are getting pinging due to the high amount of carbon, pull the heads and clean them and any other visible carbon. Then do an oil change.

I cant quantify the results I get from SeaFoam, but I use it all my engines, and I dont have any problems with gummy carbs or injectors. Over 750k miles [cumulative] in all my motors, and never had to replace an injector. Wouldnt use it in oil though like they say. Loose things in oil tend to stick in bad spots. Better left alone!
