Starving for gas under acceleration.

Just bought a 66 charger, when driving home east from Omaha It started starving for fuel on I-80 we limped into Des Moines and I left it at a friends house. We got to looking, and it has an electric fuel pump that pumps into the mechanical pump, then a filter and to carb. 750 double pumper mech. choke and secondaries. Is this ever done?

Yes. This common to overcome small fuel line size. The electric gets the fuel to the mechanical and it works somewhat like a regulator and meters the volume based on engine speed.

If both pumps check good, make sure you don't have a rubber fuel line collapsing under suction.

I pulled the sending unit, And it is new. I checked the electric pump it was bad so I completely removed it. I have blown out all the lines, And removed the mechanical pump, It also looks new and I can find nothing wrong with it. I get no gas at all to the carb. now. Is it possible to get the pump bolted to the block without matching the pump lever with the push rod?
