Streetable?

Looked at a 69 Satellite with a 440 high flo ex man, 750 Demon, 12.5 to 1 comp., Crane 314 dur., 274 @.050, .590" lift, 108cl cam, 3500 10" stall, 355 out back 727 man rev valvle body. Is this a realistic streetable ride. It seemed to drive and idle pretty good. Didnt start breathing until about 3500. I just thought the idle would be real choppy and it wasnt. I'm wondering if the owner was misinformed abou the whole setup. He says it runs on pump 93. Anyone ever street something like this? What were your experiences?
thanks,
On the fence

Sounds like a fun ride. I would guess you will need 100 octane racing gas with 12.5 compression ? Does it have iron or aluminum heads ?

Might have advertised 12:1 CR then the cam is helping to reduce the actual CR. If it idles fair it would be a part time street ride as the high stall will actually be killer for any street-ability for extended time. Week end warrior yes a DD i would say no.. I would think that cam would be really choppy, because thats huge duration and narrow C/L. That being said I think there is something a-miss.... JM2C tho

It has iron heads with some port wrk. I agree the actual comp would be reduced with the cam specs. This is a tough call. Again the idle just isnt bumpy enough and I dont want some lobe flattened POS detonation queen after five thousand miles.

Streetable? Sure, but it will get old really fast. Pun intended.

With the idle, high stall converter (I'm using a 3000, and I'm not crazy about it...) and the pump gas may be questionable, it might be a kick or a pain.

Look, we get guys with rides like that at most of our cruise-ins and some folks think they're cool, but most of the old timers, just shake our heads.

Unfortunately, it has to be your call.

Would a motor with those specs run well on 93 oct.? The thing laid down a hundred footer without a ping. Thats another flag that is making me think that the owner was misinformed when he bought the car. I have a hunch the engine is a lot tamer.

Normally, I'd say not without backing off the timing or water injection (both options), but without knowing the lobe over lap on the cam, it's hard to say.

You might be right, sometimes people were given wrong info or time can cloud the memory.

Checking the timing might give you a hint if the CR is where hew said it was. (Back in the day, I used to run pump gas on the street, and mix in race fuel at the track, allowing me to bump up the timing.)

No never tried that. Used to add Cam2 to Premium in about 30:70 blend. (Think 4 gallons of CAM2 was about $20 at the track back then.) Back then we also got away with mixing unleaded Premium with leaded regular for the street.

Not racing anymore, so really haven't played with that. Running about 10.85:1 (advertised) on 93, so far - so good.
