using oil

I have a 72 Challenger. 360 magnum motor. Had a valve job done a year ago with new valve guide seals and put new rings on but it uses about a quart of oil every 120 miles. Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? Thanks, Bob

Does it burn it under acceleration, cruising, or at let-off? A quart is ALOT for 120 miles, almost like a smoke screen! Are you sure you dont have a dynamic leak? Pumping it out while running? On my Harley once, I missed a shift and over-revved. Smashed a valve seal.

I would check the fit of the intake manifold. Makes sure the correct intake gaskets were used..
Is it the stock magnum beer barrel intake ?? They had a plate that bolted to the bottom that could cause it to suck oil

Went on a trip with another car and he said just cruising saw no smoke. Only on when i let off the gas or going down hill. The intake manifold is not stock. I have an Edelbrock. I have noticed that a little bit of oil signs on the outside of the corners of the intake. So I think it might be a leak in the intake or valve guide seals. What do you think?

Thanks again.

Smoke on acceleration = rings
Smoke on deceleration = guides
