Which V-6

I am working on a project vehicle and want to put a V-6 engine in it. I am just starting to look for a donor vehicle. My question is what is the better engine? The 3.9 or the newer 3.7. I have owned the V8 versions of these engines but not the junior version. I am not going to modify the engine, I just want a smaller reliable engine. Any input is welcome.

If the 3.7 is related to the 4.7 ìI would not even consider one if give to me free.

I have the 4.7 in my Dakota with 90k miles on it. No issues yet. I change the oil regularly because I have read where they sludge up. I do like the 318 over the 4.7.
