Cool What Carburetor would you use?

Well it turns out that my 360 Duster is in need of a bigger more CFM carb. Due to the fact it is a slug and the plugs are white. I did some research with some of the senior members and we decided the engine needs more fuel and CFMs. So Now the question is which one would you guys recommend? Ive narrowed it down for you: Would you use a Holley 3310SA 750 vacuum secondary OR an Edlebrock perfomer #1407 750CFM velocity secondary. What are your Thoughts???

Holley fan here, I used the 3310 for a few years before switching to an 850 DP on my 440. It's a good solid, easy to work carb.

For street 360, 750 might be over kill, and if you're using it for the track, a DP is the way to go.

I'd try increasing the jet size and possibly the squirters (if it's a Holley) first. Fuel is one thing, cfm is another.

Can't beat a 3310, always been one of my favourites. The only drawback, when I was selecting a carb, was sacrifice of fuel mileage on a street only vehicle as I usually would lean toward spreadbore. If you've got a high stall convertor, love those big primaries.

Archer the stock carb (Thermoquad) they use on 318,340,360 with single exhaust no cam headers and such is 800CFM so I dont feel that 750 CFMs is anywhere near over kill for my app. But thanks.

If you have a TQ on it now, have you tried adjusting the secondary spring to get the performance you want.

No it is a 1810 holley 600 CFM vacuum secondary the only thing is it came with the car that was disassembled and in boxes. So I dont know whats been done to it? ( drilled jets, squirters, etc...) So I figured I would bite the bullit and just get a new one. I am leaning toward the Edlebrock Though only because they are basicly a carter AFB under the new badge. Mopar used Carters for years and this car is a street car that I just want to be fun to drive and react when the go pedal is smashed. If I was Racing this car then it would be a 408 stroker and built to the max. But that was not what I want from this car. I cant seem to get this site to allow me to download pictures but there is a picture on the other site.www.mopartech.net

Sure Moe, That would be the cats meow if you could find one for under $100,000 and had the money to buy it. The reason I dont due crate engines is for the challange of building a car that will kick a-- and take names later. Stock vehicles I have. And use as daily drivers. But when you want to take a cruise in your muscle car it better be just that, a muscle car, or just leave it in the garage. A cruiser doesnt have anything to prove but a car that is painted a High Impact color and screams performance and isnt is what we call "all show no go." Moe we are from the same era you remember the days dont you....Bill

I agree with your thinking as I have fought with used carbs and rebuilds to find leaky, cracked pull your hair out regrets. Right now have an old Holley 4011, 650cfm with a loose throttle shaft that my son rebuilt that is actually working real well. Went out and bought a new 625cfm Street Demon to eventually put on when this one starts giving me trouble, always nice to start with something fresh.

Have you given this carb (625 or 750) any thoughts. Wish I had it on to give you some input, the stacked primary boosters look like a nice design.

It is on a "modded" Chrysler Corp. Dodge truck, that sounds like a muscle car hauls ***, trailers and 1500lbs of scrap pipe with ease.

yes Bill i DO remember the "good old days". in 1969 i was talking to a guy that was about 70. he said " the good old days remember well, but they didnt live to good". most of the time when i complain iam getting tired of kids thinking that hopping up a car is just a cam and a carb. way back when chrysler had a book as thick as a bible. it listed ALL the parts to make a race car. if you made it like CHRYSLER showed you it WILL go xxxx fast. if it doesnt its cause you did something wrong. a true chrysler race car is a SYSTEM. thanks for your knowledge and info, Bill.

One of the best books I ever bought was called Carroll Shelby's speed secrets and that is just what they called it the bible. It gave you the weight of your car the engine and what to do to it and it will turn this in a 1/4 mile. Well damn it did exactly what he said it would. And it was all done with parts out of Direct><Connection. Now its called Mopar Performance. He was a Smart & great man and will be missed..

Is the motor stock ? 3310 will work just fine Like ALL cars today you need to run an Ethanol additive unless it is an everyday driver. I ran a 625cfm Carter on a hopped up 360 worked good also ran a 3310 on it also ran good maybe a little more peak HP with the HOLLEY. I also ran a 800cfm thermoquad with my own build motor fashioned after the factory 360/360
