What head on a 512CI Mopar
What head on a 512CI Mopar
So, i am about to obtain a 600 hp 700 lb-ft 512 lowdeck. For now, its fine as is, but here in a couple of months i plan on trying for the 700hp range. It has a set of Hardcore 452 heads on it right now and was i wondering on what top end combo would get me 700ish hp while being streetable. Indy head vs victor heads? What cam, intake and carb. I imagine it would not be to hard to hit this goal, because it has a relatively small cam in it right now( 240 Duration at 50 and 560 lift at 50) The cam that is in it now has tons of low end power, so i figure with a higher duration and higher lift cam( maybe 650ish lift) i could get half way to my goal. As far as heads go, i've been told bye a few people that the indy heads are just not as good for street applications but i have never seen any proof. Forgive my ignorance on this subject for i have hardly ever worked on vehicles...

Depends on what your compression ratio is. I mean your actual compression ratio, you'll have to take plenty of fine measurements and figure it out. The Trick Flows are great but they can handcuff you when it comes to Chamber CCs. I believe they are only made in a 78cc chamber so depending on what your CR is that may make your compression way too high for pump fuel. They're great because they are the only heads that I know of that you can bolt on out of the box. (Many other brands say they are bolt on ready but that is a lie!!! Trick Flows are CNC cut and are bolt on ready) Edelbrocks are made in a few different CCs, but you'll have to have them built by you local machine shop. A Performer RPM head will do you fine if properly built. Thats what mum running on my 511ci. I had Hughes do their full Race Valve job on them and blend the runners in. They're flow tested at 286cfm intake and 239cfm exhaust flow on each runner.
