46RH direct drum machining

Hi guys, i'm on the process of rebuilding a 46RH came out of a '94 Jeep ZJ, i found that the band was actually without any friction material left and was working metal to metal on the outer diameter of the drum so of course , it caused some wear on it, it has grooves but the thing is concerning me the most is that there's a little bit of taper on the end of the drum itself, didn't have the chance to measure it yet.
I'm thinking to put it on the lathe but i have no idea what the minimum diameter would be. I know that band preload , must be set with the torquewrench, so there's no problem if diameter is a lil smaller and having the drum a relatively big external diam. band can still perform well anyway.
Opinions wanted. Thank you for your time.

Hi, you meant to machine it?

Don't use it for target practice just yet.

Yes.... Then put it back in the case and see if the band will adjust. But test it before you put it back together....
