Thumbs up 64 polara transmission question

I have a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 (console shifter) with a 383 / 727 Torqueflight transmission. I am so tired of leaks, cable issues and now on my third used broken shifter (console). Has anyone converted from a 727 Torqueflight transmission to a newer non 64 style shifter cable. I am OK with trying to get a nice rebuilt transmission, later year and a lable or linkage system that will fit nice in original console? I would greatly appreciate any help.

Chris

Later style 727 would require an aftermarket shifter other wise a straight bolt in with maybe a drive shaft mod. What is breaking ?? If it is put together right it won't leak !!!!
