727 Tranmission and converter help

I have a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe that I bought from my dad about 5 years ago and today the transmission went out so I am looking to get some help with finding a transmission and converter for it. The engine is a mid 70s 360 that is bored 30over steel heads, 650 street avenger carb with a 590 purple shaft cam ( the car was built for my step mom and she liked the sound of the big cam!!!!) Anyway it has a 727 in it now and that's what I want to replace it with and from what I can tell I would be better off buying new rather than messing with the old one...I was wondering if anyone could point me towards a good shifting transmission and a mild stall that would work for me? I know the engine is externally balanced so I will need a flex pate that's balanced also. I have looked at Summit and Jegs, but there are so many options that I'm not sure what I should get?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

Welcome first, and what are these so many new transmissions you have to select from?

Welcome !!!!
I would call you local Transmission Shop and get an estimate from them. Most of these can be rebuilt, and once they see the converter they will know what one to get or the weights to add if needed.

But for the most part, any Small Block 727 Will bolt up to the block... The style of flex plate and converter balance changes some...

He will do Stocker stuff also... :)

You might also consider a 518/ a 727 with overdrive depending on what gears you have
