Best Auto trans for 70 Barracuda with 380hp 360 engine

Hi guys,

I have a 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe running a 380hp MOPAR 360 crate motor. I need to convert it to an automatic so I can give it to my daughter who loves the car and will likely never learn to drive a manual transmission. I love her to death, but admit its a lost cause teaching her to drive a manual.

I'm thinking of converting the carb to fuel injection and the 4 speed to auto. I've looked at the A41 4 speed auto from Silver Sport Transmission (SST).

What would you recommend?

Rick

I think you've got it figured out on the transmission.

The part about your daughter made me think of mine. At 16 she learned how to drive a ford ranger 2.5 five speed, over the first weekend of her driving the check engine light came on. I was a manager at a Ford dealership and drove the ranger to work, I told the lead mechanic about the light so he looks into it. He found that the light was from excessive stalling he said he has never seen that code before. It was a good laugh after telling him about my daughters driving. Now she can get in any car and hammer the gears, she gave me a ride in a new mustang that scared the ×××× out of me. Lol
